Salmon Fishing in Alaska: Tips for Cooking Your Catch!

While salmon fishing in Alaska in an experience in itself, cooking and eating your catch can always be an incredibly rewarding experience as well.  There’s nothing quite like fresh Alaskan salmon, and there are plenty of different methods used in preparing it in the kitchen.  We’ve put together the top three ways out there for cooking salmon that result in some delicious results with minimal hassle.

Here in Alaska, one of our favorite and traditional ways of cooking salmon is to throw it on the grill.  A little bit of olive oil, some salt and pepper and a dash of lemon juice at the end is all you need to finish off fresh Alaskan salmon on the grill.  Try pairing it with freshly grilled corn or light green salad for a fresh, healthy meal.

Another easy way, to cook salmon that you’ve caught in Alaska, is to cook the fish on the stove in a flavorful broth and serve over your favorite rice or with seasonal vegetables.  Stovetop cooking is a great way to save time when you are in a hurry to eat!

Finally, try cooking salmon in parchment paper or on aluminum foil in the oven.  Just make sure you don’t cook it for took long or you risk ending up with dried out salmon!  Oven-baked salmon is delicious with a green veggie like asparagus or even a baked potato.  Try to keep it creative and see how many different wonderful flavor combinations you can come up with.
